British Home Ministry has banned Indian Muslim preacher Zakir Naik from entering the country for what it called his unacceptable behaviour.

Forty-four year old Naik makes speeches on Peace TV which is based in Mumbai.

The British home secretary Theresa May used the exclusion power for the first time to ban Naik.

Ms May said that visiting the UK was "a privilege, not a right".

"Numerous comments made by Dr Naik are evidence to me of his unacceptable behaviour," Ms May said.

Dr Naik is said to have a reputation for making disparating comments about other religions.
