Sri Lanka's state television has said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa's coalition has won the country's first post-war parliamentary election.
The television report on Friday, citing the elections department, said Rajapaksa's United People's Freedom Alliance has so far won 117 of the 225 seats contested.
A party must get 113 seats to get a simple majority and form a government.
Its closest rival United National Front won 46 seats.
