Giant waves hit Chennai coast

Giant waves washed away two huts on the Foreshore Estate coast in Chennai. The incident was reported Tuesday morning.

People living there say incidents of high waves had damaged huts in the area in the past few weeks.

They say the authorities are not doing enough to help them.

About 1000 families - mostly members of the fishing community live along the coastline. 

Chennai's coast saw a number casualties and property damage during the tsunami in 2004.
