Police in Chennai have broken up what is believed to be a large prostitution ring with possible connections in other states.
Six men were arrested by detectives of the anti-human trafficking police.
The prostitution business was detected in middle-class residential Choolaimedu area.
The arrests were made after an undercover police operation.
A group of women aged 19-25 involved in prostitution have been taken to a rehabilitation centre. Some of them belong to states in the west and north of India.
A local court has ordered the six men to be placed in judicial custody.
A car used in the prostitution business has been seized.
